There are vegans out of health reasons. Well, that is great. There are also many vegans out of ethical reasons. That is great, too – but: in most cases this is causing the need for explanations. So, what is it about those ethical values which guide them and which are not valued by the majority of people? The „ADAPTT“ organisation may help you to understand.
First: „ADAPTT“ stands for:
animals deserve absolute protection today and tomorrow
In 2016 „ADAPTT“ will be in its twentiest year. Founded in 1996 this vegan ethical organisation is defining their goal in that they want to help to put an end to: vivisection, dissection, circuses, rodeos, any forms of enslavement, exploitation, abuse and murder. When you open the website there will start a counter that numbers the different kind of animals killed during your visit.
An very important aspect in the organisations understanding is justice as animals have so it says an inherent right to live without any oppression, to live a free life not dominated by humans in any way. As all existing vegetarian and vegan organisations in the world are easily to trace back in history towards Pythagoras, one of the most famous early conscious vegetarians, which may come as a surprise to many it is no surprise that ADEPTT cites this bright head from the antique 550 B.C.:
„As long as humanity continues to be the ruthless destroyer of other beings, we will never know health or peace. For as long as people massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, those who sow the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.“
Gary Yourofsky, who ist the founder of „ADAPTT“, is one of the most controversial figures in the animal rights scene. As the organisation sees its most important actions in educating the people from an early age on, Gary has done already some 2.500 lectures around the globe. As he is expressing quite frankly what he thinks is the truth there are inumerable streams of criticisms from individuels, organsiations and official authorities.
Please, go visit the „ADAPTT“ website for many practical information about an ethical vegan lifestyle and Gary Yourovsky’s and the organsiation’s activities and experiences of now nearly two decades of compassionate acticism. You will find on the organisation’s website also videos on Gary Yourofsky’s lectures.
