Nearly four million: that is the number of dogs and cats who are being scheduled to be brought to death in animal shelters around the country each year. That is a highly rationalized systematic killing which does not have anything to do with humanity. But it is human made. To make this ugly spot dissap-pear and end this cruel kil-ling you may support the organisation: No Kill Advo-cacy Center.

No Kill nation

Nathan Winograd founded the the „No Kill Adcocay Center“ in 2004. It was the first organisation that worked exclusively for a so called No Kill nation. Nathan is the author of four books, Redemption, Irreconcilable Differences, All American Vegan, and Friendly FireRedemption won five national book awards and redefined the animal protection movement in the United States.

Helping through the law

Nathan Winograd is an absolvent of the Stanford Law School. He already was a vegan when he started at Stanford in 1991 and it was for him well decided that he will after graduating help animals through the law. That is actually what he did. Later on he became one of the most prominent critics of PETA and the Humane Society – who are the largest animal rights and welfare organisations – for their killing programmes of sheltered animal.
.

It started with one No Kill community

It was back in 2004 a humble beginning and in 2005 on the first No Kill conference there were just a little over twenty attendees. The recent conferences are sold out with something like 1000 people attending. On the „No Kill Advocacy Center’s“ website you can read: „In 2005, there was one No Kill community—the one created by Nathan. In 2013, hundreds of cities and towns across America have save rates better than 90% and as high as 99% using our No Kill Equation model of sheltering. In 2005, we talked about the goal of saving at least 90%. In 2012, we weren’t satisfied with 98% as we explored what’s possible when we reach higher.“
.

Redemption – the film

Right now there is the new film „Redemption“ on tour on screens around the States. The film is bases on Nathan J. Winograd’s book by the same name. On the website about the film you can read: „Based on the groundbreaking book of the same name, this is the story of animal sheltering, which was born of compassion and then lost its way. It is the story of the No Kill movement, which says we can and must stop the killing. It is about heroes and villains, betrayal and redemption. And it is about a social movement as noble and just as those that have come before. But most of all, it is a story about believing in the community and trusting in the power of compassion.“
.

Dates:

Many of the cities will include a post-screening seminar on how you can help build a No Kill community and in other cities, there will also be an after-party. It is all part of the No Kill Advocacy Center’s 2014 “No Kill is Love” tour.
